Inducted in 2006

Oglesby began his career in healthcare administration at the age of 25 when he got the top job at Union Memorial Hospital in Monroe, N.C.

But it was during his 30-year tenure as president of Anderson (S.C.) Memorial Hospital where he would become president of some of healthcare’s most prominent organizations.

He served as chairman of the American Hospital Association, American College of Healthcare Executives and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

In fact, Oglesby went straight from his post at the AHA to one at the Joint Commission at a time when the two organizations weren’t on the best of terms as the commission looked to revamp the hospital accreditation process.

However, Oglesby’s “steady, cool hand” helped assuage the situation, and ultimately the relationship improved.
