Karen Davis

A leading voice in healthcare reform discussions, Karen Davis is president of the Commonwealth Fund, a private, New York-based foundation that regularly issues influential papers on leading healthcare topics including the uninsured, alternative payment models, patient safety and quality of care. With net assets of $573 million, the fund is a powerful force in healthcare policy circles, and Davis, 68, is a strong proponent for change. She was the first woman to lead a U.S. public health service agency, as deputy assistant secretary of health policy at HHS from 1977 to 1980.
