Mednax, Sunrise, Fla., has acquired for undisclosed terms a pediatric hospitalist group that provides newborn nursery care and inpatient pediatric services at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, both part of 1,464-bed Orlando (Fla.) Regional Medical Center.
The acquisition adds 11 physicians and nine clinical and administrative employees to Mednax. The new employees will become part of Mednax's Pediatrix Medical Group, a national practice composed of neonatal, maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric cardiology and other pediatric specialty physicians, according to a
Mednax news release.
"As a leading hospitalist practice in the Orlando area, we knew that with the changing future of healthcare, it would be ideal to partner with a national medical group practice," said Dr. Dianna Brozyna, who will serve as medical director for the practice, in the news release.
In September, Mednax announced it had acquired
Pediatric Cardiology of Austin (Texas), a physician group practice, for an undisclosed amount of cash.
Mednax has acquired 11 physician group practices in 2012, according to the company.
