Coustan named president-elect of gynecological society

The American Gynecological and Obstetrics Society named Dr. Donald Coustan president-elect.

Coustan, 69, is the director of the division of maternal-fetal medicine's diabetes in pregnancy program at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, a 247-bed hospital in Providence, R.I., according to a news release. He is also a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Coustan will succeed Dr. Jay Iams of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on Sept. 20, 2013.
