N.J. cancer docs, Horizon Blues partner

Regional Cancer Care Associates, a Hackensack, N.J.-based oncology physician network, signed a value-based reimbursement contract with Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of (Newark) New Jersey.

The aim of the three-year contract is to improve patient outcomes and address rising healthcare costs, according to a news release from the two organizations.

Regional Cancer Care Associates, which has more than 75 oncologists, has an exclusive contract to provide care at John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, according to a Hackensack UMC spokesman.

"We expect this agreement with Horizon BCBSNJ to result in more comprehensive, coordinated care that ensures patients are receiving care that meets best practices for oncology interventions," said Dr. William DeRosa, chairman of the network's contracting committee, in the release.
