The University of Arizona Health Network has named Dr. Michael Waldrum CEO, effective Jan. 27. Waldrum joins Arizona from the University of Alabama Hospital, where he serves as CEO, and the UAB Health System, where he serves as VP. He previously was COO and CIO for UAB.
In his new role, Waldrum, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine, critical-care medicine and pulmonology, will lead UAHN's two hospitals as well as its clinics and health plans and the health network's physician practice plan, according to a
news release from the health network.
UAHN Hospital Division CEO Karen Mlawsky and UA College of Medicine dean Dr. Steve Goldschmid have been serving as interim co-chiefs of UAHN, according to the release. They will assume their original roles upon Waldrum's arrival.
