Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System named Dr. Jeffrey Arnold, currently chair and medical director of the emergency medicine department at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, as CMO, effective Dec. 24.

Arnold replaces Dr. Cliff Wang, who had been serving as interim CMO since May, according to an SCVHHS news release. No additional information about Wang's departure was available at deadline.

Arnold has held his current role since 2006, according to the release. Before joining Santa Clara Valley Medical, he worked in several other emergency departments, including those of Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital and Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

In June, it was announced that Santa Clara Valley Medical Center CEO Linda Smith had left her position and been replaced by Trudy Johnson, the hospital's chief nursing officer.
