Anthem Blue Cross, Woodland Hills, Calif., will expand its accountable care network with a care-coordination program for fully insured preferred provider organizations.

The insurer said in a news release that its expansion will include Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Torrance Memorial Integrated Physicians and 20 yet-to-be announced providers.

Doctors, nurses and other providers will coordinate care for chronically ill patients through the program, the release said. "We know that members who are diagnosed with a chronic condition often face complex treatments and medical regimens and are many times faced with figuring out how to navigate a very complex medical system on their own," Pam Kehaly, president of Anthem Blue Cross, said in the release.
