In the latest in a string of medical-group acquisitions this year, IPC the Hospitalist Company acquired the Alliance of Home Care Physicians, an acute- and post-acute-care practice group based in Warren, Mich.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed in an IPC news release about the acquisition. AHCP records about 35,000 patient encounters annually, according to the release.

AHCP's website lists eight physicians and eight additional clinicians on staff. The practice's co-founders, Dr. Ronald Barnett and Dr. Manolis Kyriacou, will remain with the practice following the acquisition.

"After assessing our options, it became clear that IPC will offer our practice superior capabilities in areas such as information technology, transition-of-care management and performance monitoring," Barnett said in the release.

Among its other purchases this year, North Hollywood, Calif.-based IPC recently acquired a Delaware hospitalist practice and practices in New Jersey and New York.
