Barnett named medical director at Glen Cove

North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System named Dr. Barbara Barnett to succeed Dr. George Dunn as medical director of Glen Cove (N.Y.) Hospital, effective immediately.

Dunn, who was also Glen Cove Hospital's senior VP of medical affairs and chairman of the family medicine department, retired in December, a spokeswoman said.

Barnett, who will head the hospital's quality and patient-safety efforts and medical affairs, was promoted from her prior role as director of clinical affairs, chairwoman of the department of medicine and hospitalist medicine section head, according to a news release announcing her appointment. She also serves as an associate professor at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.

Ages for Barnett and Dunn were not provided.
