Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a network of hospitals specializing in advanced-stage cancer care, has named Dr. Glen Weiss as director of clinical research, a new position.

Weiss, 37, will be based on out Western Regional Medical Center, Goodyear, Ariz., and will oversee the strategy for Phase I and II clinical trials for the entire group.

He was previously director of thoracic oncology and associate clinical investigator at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center Clinical Trials at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare.

Weiss also co-directs the lung cancer unit of the cancer cell and biology division at the Translational Genomics Research Institute, Phoenix, and serves as chief medical officer of the Cancer Research and Biostatistics Clinical Trials Consortium.
